Obligatory tumbl about my holiday.

I love it all:  the family, the hugs, the eggnog, the pies, cheersing and I-love-yous.  I’m leaving the Christmas decorations up until the New Year, most definitely.

Thanks for a beauty of a year, fine friends.  A few years ago I was nervous about losing touch even though I was elated to be traveling someplace new with no connections.  I’m comforted that we’ve stayed close, and I appreciate all of you for making sure I know you care about my well-being.  Your lives are very exciting to me, and I can’t wait to watch your careers and relationships develop.  I’m so proud of you guys.

Tara:  I’m impressed by you every time I hear from you.  You are constantly taking on new projects and shoving yourself into the opportunities presented to you.  Your photos make me feel only a stone’s throw away.

Maryam, your leadership has always been apparent, and I still think you’re excellent.  You’re involvement in GES doesn’t surprise me at all, and you’re one of the most steadfast people I know.  Thanks for thinking about things larger than yourself.

Becca,  each time I happen upon your page (okay, always of my own volition), something makes me laugh.  You’re goshdarn beautiful and you have a mind like a diamond, if I may borrow Cake lyrics.  I’m fascinated by your Wellseley life, and how you can be graceful and a riot all at once.

Megan!  Man, I’m kicking myself over not hanging with you sooner at ASMSA.  Everything you do is hilarious and warms my heart.  I’m even considering buying Just Dance 2 so that I can practice until next time I see you.   Your attitude is perfect!  And you love singing!  And somehow when we hang out we always end up driving around, which is totally cool by me!

Blah Blah Naked Cheerios Jack Jack!  I’ve missed you crazy.  I’m so thankful you and Jonathan are coming up to Vancouver.  It makes me happy that you had such a good birthday and Christmas, and that you are getting exactly what you need.  You’re one of the only unpredictable people I’ve met, which is awesome, because you’re an artist and your livelihood kind of banks on you being original.

Josh, I can’t think of you right now without thinking about your sister.  I hope Erin recovers quickly.  Your passion for atmospheric epidemiology and meteorology makes me smile the biggest smile.  It’s marvelous how involved you are in your university.  You really make things happen.  I’m proud of you organizing such formidable volleyball and UF teams!

Anyway, I’m quite partial to the lot of you.  Now onto 2011 goals?

  1.  Get a job I like in Vancouver.
  2.  Finish bartending school by February.
  3.  All A marks.
  4.  Explore 3 Canadian national parks, at least one American national park, and one international locale.
  5.  Publish in a few more scientific journals.
  6.  Take MCAT, or at least decide if MD/PhD is something I want to do.
  7.  6 pull-ups by March, 10 by December.
  8.  Cycle two centuries, and improve my tri swimming leg.
  9.  Bike in the rain!  Just do it!
  10.  Stay healthy and strong.

  13.  2 week backpacking trip.  This may be concurrent with Goal No. 4.

Sorry I’ve fallen off of tumblr cliff this semester.  I’m back, and I’ve re-micromanaged my life, so I’ll be here until the anxiety of those plans falling apart sets in.  Love you all.  I’m so glad to hear of your holidays.
